Living in the UK is just too expensive:
Income Tax - Council Tax - Council Business Tax - Petrol Tax & Road Fund License Tax PLUS the proposed Road Toll Taxes*
Take petrol tax,
at over 80% and still the government are going to increase it! Whatever
happened to our North Sea Oil?? There is no income tax in Alaska
because of the revenue from the oil industry.
Tax rise fuels petrol price fears
Petrol prices could surge to near record highs following a 2p rise in fuel duty.
That
increase could push up the average price of unleaded to about 98p,
while diesel could exceed £1 if the cost is passed on to motorists.
The Petrol Retailers Association said the rise would put an undue "strain on motorists and petrol retailers alike".
BBC
economics editor Evan Davis said the rise would be nearer to 2.3p when
VAT was taken into account. Source -

2P OFF PETROL TAX: IT'S A FARCE
GORDON
Brown was accused last night of trying to pull off yet another
confidence trick on tax after delaying a 2p rise in fuel duty.
In
a long-expected move, the Government announced that the tax increase on
a litre of petrol or diesel due this autumn will be cancelled.
But
it did nothing to quell drivers’ anger. Motoring organisations
immediately branded the gesture an inadequate “drop in the ocean” and
demanded a complete end to rip-off Treasury tax windfalls from
spiralling oil prices.

Road tax increase 'will hit 9.4m'
Car tax disc - Labour backbenchers have criticised the reforms to the road tax system
New car tax rates
An
estimated 9.4 million motorists will have to pay more road tax in
2010-11 under reforms aimed at punishing "gas-guzzling" vehicles,
ministers admit. Official estimates say vehicle excise duty will rise
for 43% of vehicles made since 2001 - by up to £245

*The new (Planned) Road Toll Taxes
Gps
tracking device in your car, cost of motorway usage determined by time
of day, entry and exit point plus popularity of motorway section.
This
may well be justified, after all, if you use these facilities, they
have to be paid for. BUT doesn't the road fund tax and petrol tax cover
that already? The Government is increasing the cost of petrol and the
road fund license, not reducing it accordingly... Together with the VAT
paid for each car sold... nice little earner!
When politicians,
with out explanation or qualification increase taxes or invent new
ones... What can we, the people do about it? We can use our VOTE
Ps. Has anyone else noticed that local government, within the council tax
charge, also charge for road maintenance. Isn't that what the road fund
license and petrol tax is for? Together with the water, gas and
elecricity fee's that also cover road maintance etc etc...
